Kolkata, January 4, 2020: Mohun Bagan returns to action in the new year after two weeks with a daunting away trip against Real Kashmir. The Mariners are in a good run of form after back to back victories in their last two matches. Their opponents are the only remaining team in I-League to have not lost a match.
Kibu Vicuna’s team is likely to have a new face in Srinagar with star striker Baba Diawara having recently replaced Spanish striker Salva Chamorro. There are no major injury concerns for Mariners. The Mohun Bagan coach said the following in pre-match conference, ““It’s different to play here because we are mostly playing on natural turf. We need to adapt to artificial turf. We need to prepare for all situations as we are here for the three points. The ground is not an excuse. Every ground is different and the conditions are different. But they are also playing on natural grass when they are playing away. When you make a ground pass, it is not the same speed as in natural grass. But if you need to come first, you need to adapt to all situations.”
His counterpart David Robertson emphasized on home support saying, “Football is obviously the main sport here. I have heard that the Bakshi Stadium used to be packed with 40,000 people in the past. People here love football. So they come in large numbers for our home fixtures, which really helps to motivate the boys”.
Mohun Bagan face Real Kashmir at 11.30 AM on 5th January, 2020.
