Kolkata, 8 January 2020: With three consecutive victories Mohun Bagan has hit a rich vein of form in 2019/20. The Mariners began the new decade memorably with a thumping victory over Real Kashmir in Srinagar under almost Sub-Zero conditions. Kibu Vicuna’s team will be looking to maintain the same form against young colts of Indian Arrows.

Komron Tursunov has completed his registration process & will be available for selection against Arrows. Fran Glez, who was recently awarded December Player of the Month picked up an injury in the last match but it was not a serious injury. Speaking to press Vicuna emphasized the importance of team work, “Fran is an important player for us. His role in the team is very essential. However, the most important player in the team is the team itself. Every player is important in my squad.” There are no major injury concerns and gaffer Kibu Vicuna likely to field the same side which played against Real Kashmir FC.

Indian Arrows is coached by former Mohun Bagan player Shanmugham Venkatesh. The youngsters are also in good form coming into this match thanks to victory against Churchill Brothers & a draw against Neroca. Venkatesh said in pre match conference, “The game of football is all about hard work and belief. What you have to understand is that most of these boys in this Arrows batch have only played at the junior level before. While they all are quality, playing against senior teams require an amount of experience. They have now started to grasp what it takes to play at the senior level, and the results have started to follow. They now have the belief that they can do it against the senior players as well. That is what has changed.”

Mohun Bagan take on Indian Arrows at the Kalyani Stadium on 9th January from 5 PM.
