Kolkata, April 18, 2019: Mohun Bagan U-15 team secured the much-needed 3 points by clinching a 1-0 win against SAI, thus climbing to the top of table of Hero Junior League Kolkata Group C thanks to the lone goal scored by Asish Sardar. Mohun Bagan now leads the group with 10 points from 5 matches.

The match was scheduled to start at 3:00 PM in Mohun Bagan ground but was postponed by half an hour due to excessive heat. Mohun Bagan started the match on a positive note and was playing pressing football from the kick off. SAI was depending mainly on the counter attack. Suddenly SAI boys countered quickly in 7th minute but the Bagan custodian Subha made a brilliant save to prevent SAI lead. Mohun Bagan was attacking from the left during the early stage of the match but the SAI goalkeeper also made couple of good saves to keep the score tied. Then just before the half hour mark, Bagan Boy Asish Sardar scored the only goal of the match giving Bagan the lead. Just after the goal SAI got a promising chance but the shot was denied by the crosspiece. Bagan went to lemon break with a 1-0 lead.
Bagan started the second half with a positive approach. Just after the play resumed, a penalty appeal in favour of Mohun Bagan was turned down by the referee as he was not interested in a handball inside the box. Bagan captain Sajal took charge of the midfield and was controlling the game beautifully during this period. After around 70 minutes of play, Mohun Bagan defender Arnab got a groin injury. But showing great determination he continued till the end. The hat-trick hero from last match S.K. Faizan got an easy chance in the 73rd minute. However, he failed to convert from a close range. The final score was 1-0 in favour of Bagan. Bagan will meet Baranagar Sporting Club for the final match of the group league on Sunday April 21 at 3:30 PM at Mohun Bagan ground.
